COSMIC CAT AND OTHER COLORFUL CHARACTERS FROM BEYOND!
Step into a playful, otherworldly universe of color and character as this exhibition presents David Buckley’s solo exhibition, featuring a vibrant collection of whimsical works inspired by pop culture, science fiction, toys, and electronic music.
Drawing from familiar sci-fi imagery such as robots, imagined technologies, and futuristic worlds, Buckley blends these elements with the playful forms and charm of collectible figures and cartoons.
Throughout the exhibition, a cast of expressive, character-driven figures inhabits bold, colorful environments.

About the Show
With this series, I set out to explore sci-fi themes in a playful way, while loosening my creative process, embracing experimentation through a mix of mediums and techniques.
Cosmic Cat was the first space explorer of this collection that I illustrated. This in turn, sparked the rocket-blasters of inspiration for the rest of the series. Hence the show title.
As you move through the exhibition, you are on a journey through outer space. Along the way, you will experience a series of whimsical artworks that draw on familiar sci-fi imagery—robots, aliens, imagined and futuristic settings—combined with the playful, simplified forms of retro toys and collectibles.
Throughout your space voyage, you will encounter a cast of funky, character-driven figures appearing in bright, bold environments, blending humor with a sense of cosmic curiosity and experimentation.
As you continue your interstellar journey, you will see that the artworks gradually abstract as they reach further and further unfamiliar galaxies and space anomalies, with colors shifting and forms bending under strange cosmic forces. Reality becomes distorted and scale and proportion become warped and unrecognizable.
Once you have reached the outer limits of your astral perception, you have witnessed the full collection. You have now discovered all there is to know about this cosmos, and it’s time to begin your journey homeward.
